So clearly, if you actually follow the blog, your probably noticed this anime season kind of dragged down for me. Bad enough in fact that I pretty much stopped talking anime after six weeks in and now it is going on the twelfth week with many shows starting to end now. Hell even the shows I was enjoying like Shirobako, Absolute Duo, Kancolle, and Assassination Classroom are all a good 2-5 episodes behind (or in a certain ones case like… 13…) and lately all I have been doing is either rewatching shows, trying to find manga to read, or playing games here and there.
But putting that all aside for now it is getting to my favorite part of the season, yes the end is my favorite because even though it can be bittersweet to see some good anime leaving, I get all hyped and excited for whats on its way. So that is what this post is going to do and I will go over some shows I personally am looking forward to watching in the next season.
So let us go and laugh at my awful tastes!!
Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka?
The story takes place in the town of labyrinths, Orario, also called “Dungeon.” Bell Cranel is a newbie adventurer that admires “Having a fateful meeting with a person of the opposite gender.” One day during an adventure, he is attacked by a Minotaur. Close to destruction, he is saved by a top-class female adventurer, Eyes Warenstein. He falls in love with her at first sight, and begins actions to become an adventurer that is on her level. He later encounters Hestia, a god called a “Lolita god” due to her stature who falls in love with him.
I’m actually hesitantly looking forward to this one to be honest. I am (still) reading through the first volume of the LN and have read some of the manga that is based on it. Story wise I would say it is probably a 7 out of 10. Nothing amazingly stellar but not exactly the same old same old (unless we look at maybe video games). The cast is interesting enough with even a few good ones mixed in. The hesitation comes right now from… I am so tired of Kirito being the MC of shows… it seems I have run across quite a few shows lately where he is the VA of the male MC and it’s just… ugh… also I am sure the anime won’t have a problem with this I hope but at least for me… reading the LN is sort of difficult, mostly because it is just written in a way I am not really familiar with I guess, so it kind of has brought some enjoyment down I suppose.
Takeo Gouda is a giant guy with a giant heart. Too bad the girls don’t want him! (They want his good-looking best friend, Sunakawa.) Used to being on the sidelines, Takeo simply stands tall and accepts his fate. But one day when he saves a girl named Yamato from a harasser on the train, his (love!) life suddenly takes an incredible turn!
So I am reading this series as it comes out in the states in its volumes… IT IS SO BLOODY CUTE!!!! Anyway I really enjoy the manga and after I heard it was getting an anime… I admit I probably squealed like a fangirl. Of course I probably did that for all the series I am following that are getting anime adaptations this year.
Shokugeki no Souma
The anime adaptation of the Shokugeki no Souma manga that centers on Souma, who works with his dad at his family’s restaurant. His dad is a culinary master, and he often hosts cooking battles with his father. His father then enrolls him in an elite culinary school that is very difficult to enter, and the graduation rate is only about 10 percent.
Like the others I have been reading this series this one is going to be interesting to see animated because… well essentially it is Food Porn masked by shonen battles… about food. Though it is yet again Kirito’s VA doing the role… in the preview he seemed to fit more here than he did in Dungeon Girls above. Usually I dislike shonens… but maybe I will actually like this one?
Yamadakun to Nananin no Majo
Ryu Yamada is a second year student at Suzaku High. Ryu is always late for school, naps in class and gets abysmal grades. His life is a dead bore. The beautiful Urara Shiraishi, on the other hand, is Suzaku High’s brightest student. One day, without explanation, their bodies are swapped! Ryu ends up in Urara’s body, and Urara in Ryu’s.
This one… I read some of it but somewhere shortly after the cast switch in the manga I think I stopped following it. But needless to say I enjoyed what I did read and when I heard there was going to be an anime I admit I was a bit excited to see what would be coming.
That pretty much concludes ones I am hyped for going in with knowledge I have of them. But there are some that I am looking forward towards either because of their aesthetics or by their synopsis given.
The manga’s story revolves around Nya-tan, the cat of Chinese astrology who wants to become a member of the Chinese zodiac. Nya-tan is simple and suffers from memory loss, and she tries various foolish ways to become a member. She meets Takeru Tendo, a high school student who lives alone in Akihabara, and becomes a freeloader at his house. Little by little, she gets closer to her goal.
So having just watched the preview for this one I have to say the art is along the lines of what I enjoy and going by what I can understand of the preview (which isn’t much other than introductions) and by what I can see in it. It looks like it will be a decent enough comedy for my tastes. So I suppose we shall see when it airs.
An anime adaptation of the manga Re-Kan! has been announced. The manga centers around Hibiki Amami, a girl who can see ghosts and other supernatural phenomena in her surroundings. The stories follow her daily life with both her friends and the otherworldly.
Primarily going off the visuals here that interest me. But besides that the synopsis seems interesting enough for me to watch it if I have the time.
Owari no Seraph
The story takes place in a world where an unknown virus has killed the entire human population except for children. Those children were then enslaved by vampires. The manga centers on Yuichiro Hyakuya, a human who dreams of becoming strong enough to kill all vampires.
So actually I have read the… first 3 volumes… I think of Seraph of the End. I wasn’t really looking forward to an anime though, not because it is necessarily bad or anything… just wasn’t looking forward to it compared to others and given the last WSJ series that came out as an anime (World Trigger) bored me in the first few episodes.. I just for some reason saw this not doing well (though I am fine with Shokugeki no Souma… huh…). But then Loomy over on CR started hyping it… and since he is cursed to make anything he hypes fail I kinda want to watch it now…
Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu
This spin-off of the Haruhi Suzumiya series takes place in the world of the “Disappearance” arc of the original novels, focusing on the high school life (and romance!) of a tentative and bashful Yuki Nagato quite unlike the one you’ve come to know and love through the usual exploits of the SOS Brigade… but no less charming!
As the shy head of the Literature Club, Nagato has had a hard time recruiting members. Her close friend Ryoko Asakura supports her in this. Drafting Kyon, she eventually meets up with Haruhi Suzumiya, Tsuruya, Mikuru Asahina and Itsuki Koizumi, and has to put up with their hijinks while trying to romance Kyon. Asakura seems ambivalent about the latter prospect.
Pretty much the first part of that quote is my thoughts on it. It’s a spinoff of the Haruhi series (which I found decent) and while the MC will be a different character (Yuki instead of Haruhi) with a different personality I still want to actually see this.
There are also plenty of Second/Third/Etc seasons coming out that I am looking forward towards:
High School DxD
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru
And that pretty much concludes things I am personally looking forward to watching. Though some crazy people may be able to trick me into watching a few more and in the end unless it really interests me (even the continuing shows or ones I am really wanting to watch right now) I will probably not pick all of these up to watch all season long.
