Today I felt like talking about some manga.
Mostly because I am nowhere close to being able to talk about any of the other games I am playing right now and anime is… well anime is pretty much dead already for this season…
Though I originally had different manga I wanted to talk about I couldn’t easily pair them up so I scrapped them for now and will probably throw them in posts later.
Today’s theme is particularly about love stories but not perhaps your average boy meets girl in some average way type of story.
Enter Kadokura Kyouko, grade school teacher, 33 years old, single. She has a gentle and caring personality and loves her job. Unfortunately she is only popular with her pupils, so her prospects of ever getting married seem… grim.
Also enter Yamato Kazuki, university student, 20 years old, future goals = marrying Kyouko-sensei, becoming an astronaut (?). He’s been in love with Kyouko-sensei ever since she became his homeroom teacher in 4th grade. Now finally an adult and having enough money to buy a ring, he decides to propose to her and she – in some way or other – agrees to become his girlfriend.
But even though theoretically a couple now, their teacher-student relationship doesn’t seem to have changed much. What will become of this unlikely pair?
A simple and cute 4-koma love story about a grade school teacher in her thirties who ends up becoming the girlfriend of a college student that was once one of her students.
So on the surface really there wouldn’t be much odd about seeing the two characters together in a relationship though the 10+ year age gap on top of him being one of her old students makes it a bit of a peculiar relationship.
Add onto that the silly things such as her acting like a teacher towards him, he still acts like her student occasionally, and both are inexperienced with love and it makes for an interesting, albeit currently short, read.
The story revolves around Yuki Kurihara, a girl who has finally been granted her wish of dating her crush Shinya Momotsuki (Momo). At first glance, she just looks like a normal but very cute girl. However, she is in fact a maniac over Momo, taking notes of his activities and never missing the chance to see him in a cute moment. Momo, on the other hand, is inexperienced in love, and just wants to make Yuki happy.
For Momokuri it is an interesting series.
While it starts out as a normal girl confesses to a boy scenario we quickly learn that Yuki is actually quite stalkerish in her feelings towards Momo. Often taking pictures of him secretly, taking his straws from his drinks, or knowing how Momo lives his life because of how often she would follow him.
Meanwhile Momo himself is pretty average, though short, and completely inexperienced in love and what to do in a relationship.
These two thrown together, with all of their friends, makes for plenty of interesting scenarios.
Futari no Renai Shoka
Kanako is a young woman who is running an old book store. One day, a customer comes in who shares her taste in books. He’s a teenager named Akio, and he and Kanako quickly find that their taste in books is only the first of many ways that they fit together well. Kanako immediately realizes she wants him, and soon blurts out awkward things, like proposals of marriage and cohabitation. Despite their different ages and their awkwardness, it seems like their relationship has the potential to grow into something beautiful.
Another story revolved around an age gap, but more of an immoral or illegal one, this one though takes two characters whom learn that together they essentially make a perfect pair together.
Though short with less than a dozen chapters I still love what this story has pumped out in its short time so far. I like how the main pair click together and everything they go through together.
But unlike the others talked about today there isn’t much other than the age gap between the two that makes anything of their relation unique or out of place.
